COMPUTERS AND NETWORK ACCESS AT GOLDBERG KOHN According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, Goldberg Kohn's technology is nothing less than cutting-edge:
Goldberg Kohn provides each attorney with dependable, state-of-the-art technology, such as described above. Our system reads e-mails over the phone, and thanks to the wireless access points installed in our office, it is no longer necessary to find a network jack to access the firm's network. Our standard configuration consists of: an IBM laptop running Document Management, Microsoft Office products, Desktop Faxing, Summation, InterAction (client relationship software), Lexis and Westlaw. We provide TREO, Blackberry and iPhone Smartphones with Goodlink technology to all attorneys. These allow our attorneys to send and receive e-mail, including attachments, from almost anywhere in the world. In addition, as part of our billing and accounting system, we route our conflict data electronically, and attorneys bill their time electronically. Goldberg Kohn's local area network uses Cisco switches and routers to provide dependable 1 gbps switched network access to the desktop. We have also installed high-speed, reliable access to the Internet. Access to the firm's network while in the office is available wirelessly using any of the three Wi-Fi 802.11 protocols (a,b,g). We have implemented Citrix Remote Access. This technology allows attorneys to access not only their e-mail and documents but also all applications currently on their desktops via the Internet from anywhere in the world, as if they were in the office. COLLABORATION Collaboration and teamwork are fundamental principles at Goldberg Kohn. To that effect, we are committed to the most sophisticated use of technology possible to enable the sharing of work product, knowledge and experience among our attorneys. The firm utilizes advanced document and precedent management tools that facilitate enterprise-wide knowledge sharing among attorneys and staff. TRAINING Technology is only as effective as the training that goes with it. At Goldberg Kohn, we provide training for all new hires, advanced courses to get the most from our software, and additional classes whenever we upgrade our hardware and/or software. Our full-time trainer bases programs on the needs of users and on their computer knowledge level, and works to accommodate the various schedules of our attorneys and staff. |
