Goldberg Kohn Represented Sun-Times Media Holdings in the Complex Acquisition of Sun-Times Media Group Assets

Goldberg Kohn represented Sun-Times Media Holdings LLC in the complex acquisition of Sun-Times Media Group Inc. assets, including the Chicago Sun-Times and the Sun-Times News Group's 58 other local publications and websites, in a nationally watched deal.  Sun-Times Media Holdings won the Bankruptcy Court's approval to be the successful stalking horse bidder in a 363 sale which cleared the way for the acquisition, subject to many challenging corporate, real estate and labor union conditions.  The deal closed on October 26, securing the future of these legendary Chicago institutions, Chicago's tradition of being a "two newspaper" town, and more than 1,800 jobs. 

The firm's representation included  extensive work by its bankruptcy, corporate, federal and state taxation, intellectual property, labor and employment and real estate legal advisory lawyers. The Goldberg Kohn team, led by attorneys Michael Sullivan, Denise Caplan and Randall Klein, partnered with Mesirow Financial and Crowe Horwath to complete this very complex deal.
