Goldberg Kohn Attracts New Labor & Employment Law Partner January 1, 2001 CHICAGO—The commercial law firm of Goldberg, Kohn, Black, Rosenbloom & Moritz, Ltd. recently announced that labor law attorney Michael L. Sullivan has joined its nationally recognized Labor & Employment Practice Group. Mr. Sullivan, formerly a partner at a boutique labor and employment law firm in Chicago, joined the firm as a partner on Jan. 2, 2001. Mr. Sullivan has significant experience in all aspects of union-management relations, including a national practice before various regional offices of the National Labor Relations Board. He has represented clients in unfair labor practice hearings and grievance arbitrations, counseled employers during union organizing campaigns, and defended clients' interests throughout the union-election process, including hearings on post-election challenges and objections. In addition, Mr. Sullivan has experience handling difficult and expedited labor problems, including those involving strikes, picketing and emergency litigation in federal court. Mr. Sullivan's experience and focus extends beyond so-called "traditional" labor law. He has defended numerous employment discrimination cases in administrative agencies and federal and state courts across the United States. He has obtained numerous summary judgments in these cases and has successfully defended their appeals before various federal and state appellate courts. Where appropriate, Mr. Sullivan has used alternative dispute resolution to obtain expedited and favorable settlements of these matters. Mr. Sullivan also counsels clients to help guide them through the myriad of compliance issues arising under civil rights, wage and hour, and union-related laws and regulations. He is a frequent lecturer and author on labor and employment law subjects, most recently assisting as a topic editor to Elkouri and Elkouri's well-known treatise, "How Arbitration Works" (Volz, Goggin, ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law). |
