October 17, 2006

On October 17, 2006, Mary E. Anderson, a litigation associate at Goldberg Kohn, was appointed the President of the Board of the Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice at the annual Chicago Council of Lawyers/Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice joint luncheon.  Chicago Appleseed is a nationally-connected social impact research and advocacy organization that works to achieve fundamental, systemic reform by addressing policies and practices that prevent individuals from reaching their full potential.  Appleseed focuses on social justice and government effectiveness issues ranging from fair criminal justice systems to equal access to financial institutions.  Currently, Appleseed has five active project areas: Child Support Enforcement and Payment Reform; Voter Education in Judicial Elections; Financial Literacy Education; Criminal Justice System Reform; and Due Process Protection in Immigrant Legal Proceedings.

At the luncheon, Mary spoke on the accomplishments of Chicago Appleseed over the last year and the future goals and vision of the organization.  Mary has served on the Board of Directors of Chicago Appleseed since 2000.  Mary will serve as President for a two-year term.
