Goldberg Kohn Forms New Climate Change and Resource Conservation Practice Group June 14, 2007 Goldberg Kohn is pleased to announce the formation of its Climate Change & Resource Conservation practice group. This new initiative, chaired by principal Michael Manuel and joined by seven other principals and five associates, takes an interdisciplinary approach to the climate change challenge. Manuel brings together expertise in environmental and natural resources issues with nearly two decades of a commercial practice. Others in the group have experience in business formation, capital raising, finance, real estate and litigation. "Regulatory and private sector efforts to mitigate climate change are going to have wide-ranging social and economic implications. The business community will be challenged to react and adapt accordingly," said Manuel. "We are committed to providing our clients with the timely, strategic advice and counsel they will need to turn these challenges into opportunities." With a degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan, Manuel has the knowledge and experience to help business clients navigate the risks and opportunities presented in this rapidly evolving area of the law involving energy financing, development and deployment, carbon emission capture, sequestration and trading, and efficient and sustainable energy natural resource use. The group is closely monitoring current cases, regulations and other legal developments involving climate and resource conservation issues, including proposed state and renewable energy mandates, federal climate change and alternative initiatives, various energy efficiency and alternative energy industries and sustainable development. The team is staying abreast of such complex issues as carbon trading, emission offset credits, global emissions trading, conservation development and renewable energy. "The business community is going to be a major part of the climate change solution. Our interdisciplinary team has the expertise to provide existing companies and new ventures with the myriad of legal services that they will need to prosper in this new legal environment. The background of our new group will allow us to provide our clients with the information they need to participate and thrive in this new economy."
