Goldberg Kohn Principal and Otterbourg, Steindler Partner Named as Co-General Counsel of the Commercial Finance Association

CHICAGO—The Chicago law firm of Goldberg, Kohn, Bell, Black, Rosenbloom & Moritz, Ltd. and the New York law firm of Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen, P.C. are pleased to announce that Richard M. Kohn, one of the founding principals of Goldberg Kohn and Jonathan N. Helfat, a member of the Otterbourg, Steindler firm, were recently named Co-General Counsel of the Commercial Finance Association (CFA), the national trade association of commercial finance lenders, effective January 1, 2002.

Mr. Kohn is head of Goldberg Kohn's Commercial Finance Department and is a Fellow and member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers. Since 1995 he has served as Associate General Counsel of the CFA, and he is a founding member of the CFA's Education Foundation. He is currently representing the CFA in proceedings before the United Nations Commission on International Trade on various projects relating to cross-border financing.

Mr. Kohn is a frequent author and lecturer on commercial finance topics, often in the area of international lending. Mr. Kohn is admitted to practice in Illinois, and he received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Helfat joined Otterbourg, Steindler in 1971, where he specializes in the representation of commercial finance companies, banks, factors and other financial institutions in bankruptcy, workouts and restructurings. Mr. Helfat was Associate General Counsel of the CFA and past Chairman of the CFA's Education Foundation campaign. He is a Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.

Mr. Helfat received his law degree from the University of Louisville School of Law and a master of laws from New York University. He is admitted to practice law in New York and various Federal courts.

Founded in 1944, the Commercial Finance Association is the trade group of the asset-based financial services industry, with members throughout the U.S., Canada and around the world. Members include the asset-based lending arms of domestic and foreign commercial banks, small and large independent finance companies, floor plan financing organizations, factoring organizations and financing subsidiaries of major industrial corporations.
