Principal Gary Ruben Participates in Commercial Real Estate Conference
On September 24-25, Law Seminars International hosted the Fourth Annual Conference on Advanced Commercial Real Estate Leases which provided the latest information on negotiating and enforcing commercial leases.
Gary Ruben, Chair of the firm's Real Estate Group, spoke at a session entitled, "Workouts and Remedies: Landlord in Distress."
This year's seminar had special emphasis on issues that have arisen from the current economic environment. Attention was given to market conditions and expectations, including comment on the impact of the substantial amounts of available sublease space, lease renegotiations and concessions requested by tenants facing financial difficulties, negotiation of subleases by sublandlords and subtenants, landlord remedies with respect to defaulting tenants and tenants in bankruptcy, and tenant rights and issues resulting from landlord financial difficulty and bankruptcy.
