Ronald Barliant, principal in the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group, will speak at the "Asbestos Bankruptcy - Current Trends and Future Outlook Conference" on October 6, 2010, in New York.

Mr. Barliant will participate in an afternoon session entitled, "Addressing Asbestos Claims without a 524(g) Trust," during which he will discuss the following topics:

  • Asbestos claims in the GM/Chrysler bankruptcies
  • How "free and clear" 363 Asset Sales are from future claimants pursuing successor liability claims
  • If an FCR can provide due process to future claimants without a 524(g) trust
  • The impact of the latest 2nd Circuit decision in the Johns-Manville case.

Mr. Barliant is a former U.S. bankruptcy judge for the Northern District of Illinois and is Chair of the CBA's Bankruptcy & Reorganization Committee. He is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy-related topics at organizations and seminars across the country.
