Goldberg Kohn's Labor & Employment Group is pleased to present its Annual Employment Law Update for human resource professionals, in-house counsel and other business leaders involved in employment litigation and employment policy matters within their companies. The topics for this year's seminar will address recent developments relating to the FMLA, ADA, non-compete and trade secret litigation, implementation of the new FLSA regulations (one-year later), Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower litigation, and several new developments in Illinois employment law.
This seminar will provide practical insights to employers who wish to prevent litigation before it arises. Each participant will receive a written synopsis of the leading case law developments in the last year, along with practice tips arising from each case.
Critical nuts and bolts issues raised in recent cases include:
1. How should an employer engage in the ADA interactive process when the employee is uncooperative?
2. Does an employer have to reasonably accommodate an employee who cannot make it into work at all?
3. Can an employer change or eliminate an employee's job just after the employee returns from FMLA leave?
4. Can senior managers without non-competes be prevented from working for competitors under the "inevitable disclosure" doctrine in Illinois?
5. What must employers do to avoid the devastating discovery sanctions some courts have recently imposed for failure to retain electronic records?
As a decision maker responsible for employment law matters within your company, you won't want to miss this valuable seminar. It could mean the difference between winning and losing in court, avoiding or facing government agency scrutiny, and protecting or harming your company's reputation.
