Goldberg Kohn Attorneys Volunteer for Women Everywhere's Service Day
On Friday, June 12 a group of female attorneys from Goldberg Kohn volunteered for the Women Everywhere Service Day. Through Women Everywhere, Goldberg Kohn was paired with Good News Partners, a housing organization located in Rogers Park, to help with the renovation of two buildings used by Good News Partners to assist homeless and low-income families.
"The Women Everywhere Service Day was a memorable event. I appreciated the opportunity to spend time with my colleagues outside of the workplace, and also to learn more about the lives and experiences of other members of our Chicago community," said Katherine Lin, an associate in Goldberg Kohn's Commercial Finance Group.
Women Everywhere is a collaborative effort of nine women's Bar groups, working together to plan and coordinate volunteer activities on behalf of high school girls as well as women and children in need. Through WE, several hundred volunteers, including federal and state judges, attorneys, and friends of the legal community have donated time to the Educational Program and the Community Service Day. Good News Partners has successfully rehabbed more than 300 units and currently manages 120 units of housing, for low-income members of the Rogers Park. They also provide employment opportunities and training for neighborhood residents and evening and weekend activities, tutoring, and camping trips for children.
