Drew Cardonick is a principal in the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group.  He primarily represents lenders such as commercial banks, savings institutions, business credit institutions and other financial institutions in large and mid-sized bankruptcy cases, restructurings, workouts and liquidations throughout the country.  He has also documented loan transactions, as well as distressed debt transactions, for large and mid-sized clients.  Representative clients have included Bank of America, Hilco Financial, Merrill Lynch, Bridge Commercial Finance, General Electric Capital Corporation, FINOVA Capital Corporation, Fleet Capital, LaSalle Business Credit, The CIT Group, and Foothill Capital Corporation.

Mr. Cardonick has spoken widely on various bankruptcy and related topics, including cash collateral, debtor-in-possession financing, bankruptcy sales and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.  He is also an expert in the field of lender liability (including equitable subordination and fraudulent conveyance law), and has written, spoken, and been quoted extensively in national publications on the issues involved in it.  He is a member of the Commercial Finance Association, as well as a member of its advisory board.  He is also a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and for several years has served as co-chair on the Public Relations Committee of TMA's Chicago Chapter.  He also served as executive editor of Ginsberg and Martin on Bankruptcy (4th edition). 

Mr. Cardonick is admitted to practice in Illinois, New York, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the Fourth Circuit and the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and various other district courts.  He received his law degree, with honors, in 1992 from the University of Chicago and his B.S. in accounting, summa cum laude, in 1989 from Pennsylvania State University.  He served on the University of Chicago Law Review.  From 1992 to 1993, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Ginsberg, United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois.
