Bill Meyers is a principal in the Litigation Group. Throughout his career, Mr. Meyers has been involved in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters. He served as primary litigation counsel to the Official Committee of Equity Security Holders in the bankruptcy of Kmart Corp. He also served as primary litigation counsel in a bankruptcy litigation involving several hundred copyright assets in the liquidation of a major fine art gallery. He regularly represents national banks and commercial lenders in a variety of matters including insolvency and bankruptcy-related litigation in courts throughout the country. Mr. Meyers has also litigated a host of trademark infringement, false affiliation, trademark dilution and Internet domain name piracy claims. He assists clients in maintaining their existing service marks and trademarks and also counsels clients with respect to new marks and corporate identities. Mr. Meyers has co-authored several papers relating to intellectual property, including “Trademark Rights At Risk,” Candy Business (July/August 2001); “The Dilution of the Federal Trademark Dilution Act,” For The Defense (August 2001); “Establishing a Trademark on the Internet,” Market Focus: Toys (April 1997); and “Trademark Infringement on the Internet,” Market Focus: Toys (May-June 1997). Mr. Meyers is admitted to practice in the Illinois Supreme Court; the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois; and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan and his B.A., with honors, from Michigan State University. He is a member of the Chicago, Illinois and American Bar Associations.
