Vanessa A. Bachtell

Vanessa Bachtell is a principal in the firm's Corporate, Securities & Tax Group.  Her work experience encompasses a broad range of commercial matters, and includes documenting acquisitions, dispositions and restructurings; providing general corporate counseling to a variety of business entities, including corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships; advising and assisting clients on matters involving entity formation and organization, compliance issues, and governance; and drafting a wide array of business contracts, including licensing, employment/consulting and non-competition agreements. In addition, Ms. Bachtell works on federal and state securities law matters, including the preparation of offering materials and filings to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements in connection with private placements.  

In conjunction with the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group, Ms. Bachtell represents purchasers and sellers in the negotiation, documentation and closing of distressed commercial debt trades; and in conjunction with the firm's Commercial Finance Group, she analyzes equity investment and underlying corporate transaction documentation.  Ms. Bachtell also works with the firm's Intellectual Property Group to assist clients in negotiating and documenting transactions involving intellectual property and provide counsel regarding advertising issues. Ms. Bachtell is admitted to practice in Illinois. She received her law degree in 1999 from Northwestern University and her B.A. in English, cum laude, from the University of Arizona in 1996.
