Zachary Garrett is a principal in the firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Group. Mr. Garrett has represented a broad range of clients, including secured and unsecured creditors, purchasers, and assignees, in all aspects of commercial workouts and corporate bankruptcies, including restructurings, reorganizations, sales, and liquidations. His workout experience includes the negotiation and documentation of out-of-court restructurings and liquidations, including through forbearance agreements, UCC sales, receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors. His bankruptcy experience includes the negotiation, documentation, and litigation of debtor-in-possession financing, cash collateral use, collateral valuation, asset sales, and relief from the automatic stay.
Mr. Garrett is admitted to practice in Illinois. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 2007 where he served as contributing editor of the Journal of Law Reform. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, in political science and philosophy, from Hope College in 2005, where he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa.
