Associates
Associates play a vital role in the practice of law and firm operations at Goldberg Kohn. Projects are staffed efficiently such that associates often work with principals on a one-on-one basis. This approach provides direct access to the wide-ranging experience and skill of principals, who train associates both in legal doctrine and in the practical aspects of handling matters and serving clients effectively. It also allows associates to have significant responsibility and to contribute in meaningful ways at an early stage in their careers. Instead of being isolated with boxes of documents on a narrow aspect of the matter at-hand, even the most junior of associates becomes an integral part of each case or transactional team. Often, they are principally responsible, together with a single partner, for maintaining the client's relationship, for engaging in negotiations with opposing counsel, and for the full panoply of litigation and transactional tasks that make the practice so challenging and rewarding.
With respect to firm operations, associates serve on a variety of committees, including the Associate Business Development Committee, Recruiting Committee, the Administrative Committee and the Technology Committee, thereby helping to inform the direction and operations of the firm. In addition, the firm has a permanent Associate Task Force, comprised of both principals and associates. The primary purposes of this group are allowing for associate input on issues key to the firm, facilitating communication between principals and associates, and generally promoting the best possible workplace atmosphere.
Along with the opportunity to assist in the guidance of the firm and a varied, complex and challenging workload, Goldberg Kohn associates can also expect to advance their careers in an engaging, team-oriented and supportive environment. Meeting the demands of clients in the most effective and professional manner possible is an obvious priority at Goldberg Kohn; maintaining a firm where associates can enjoy themselves and can have rich and rewarding experiences both at work and outside of it is also an important priority.
