Senior Accountant
SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant performs a variety of accounting, tax, payroll, and financial duties according to established policies and procedures. Ideal candidate must be able to perform and make discretionary decisions to complex accounting and reporting duties. Maintains contact with attorneys, staff and clients and observes confidentiality in client and Firm matters. The Senior Accountant will supervise the Accounts Payable team and will help train and mentor staff on current and new processes and will document and maintain all processes and procedures up to date.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations during the month-end close analytical procedures to support forecasting future revenues and expenses.
- Responsible for the day-to-day review of the accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices to ensure they are recorded to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Review expense reimbursement reports and company credit card statements to ensure compliance with the Firm’s reimbursement policy.
- Reconcile depository and disbursement bank accounts to the general ledger and trust account registers, as well as address aged deposits in transit and outstanding checks.
- Prepare general ledger balance sheet account schedules to verify accuracy of account balances and provide visibility to balance sheet transactions.
- Review balance sheet, income and cash flow statements to identify trends, exceptions, variances and errors that need to be documented or reclassified.
- Create monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries to record required accruals and reclassifications of identified general ledger account discrepancies.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operational account and month-end
- Responsible for timely and accurately calculating and reporting sales, use, lease and amusement
- Responsible for training new and current employees on processes and
- Create and will maintain all accounting processes and procedures for training

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or
- 5-7 years of experience working in a law firm setting in order to perform and apply discretionary decisions to complex accounting and reporting duties.
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end and year-end close
- Must be experienced with state and city tax reporting and
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The following will also be required of the successful candidate:
- Ability to work designated standard hours each scheduled work day and be available to work before, during and after scheduled work hours. Demonstrated ability to work the necessary work hours
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them on time
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys, clients and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact while maintaining confidentiality.
- Knowledge in Firm supported software programs and a demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new software applications and equipment supported by the Firm.
- Ability to adhere to Firm policies set forth by Firm management, as specifically outlined in the Firm’s policy handbooks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Senior Accountant will supervise the Accounts Payable team and will help train and mentor staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position qualifies for a partial remote work schedule. On-site support will be provided in a professional business environment, using standard office equipment. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Office Services Assistant
We are seeking an Office Services Assistant to join an important team that supports our legal professionals and administrative departments in providing exceptional service to our distinguished clients. Only full-time candidates will be considered for this on-site position (hybrid schedules are not available).
Duties include but are not limited to: organizing legal documents and closing sets for transmission to parties; scanning, printing, collating, binding and emailing various documents; filing at the courthouse and delivering pleadings to co-counsel and opposing counsel; processing mail and packages; stocking supplies; trouble-shooting printer and copier issues; preparing conference rooms for meetings; hospitality duties (ordering and setting up food and beverages for meetings and events); periodic reception coverage; other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- High school diploma; supplemental or higher education a plus
- A minimum of one year of office experience; law or other professional service experience a plus
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in Word, Excel and Outlook at a basic level
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
