Goldberg Kohn is proud to announce that Rigo Fernandez has received this year's scholarship funded by our firm through the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund of Illinois (HLSF). Goldberg Kohn has provided funding for the scholarship for many years in support of HLSF's mission to increase diversity in the legal profession.

Rigo is a second-year law student at Chicago Kent College of Law where he is also pursuing a Certificate in Financial Markets and Compliance. He earned a B.S. in Social Policy and a certificate in Civic Engagement from Northwestern University.

As the first member of his family to earn a college degree and advance to law school, Rigo is passionate about public interest law and ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. He actively participates in the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Sub-Committee of the National Lawyers Guild Chicago Chapter, where he is a board member.

“I look forward to using this support to advocate for equity while breaking down barriers for the #latinx community,” said Rigo.

After graduation, Rigo plans to expand Latinx access to financial areas that have not been traditionally accessible to them.

HLSF gives law firms, corporations and individuals a vehicle for supporting Latino law students, providing both financial support and networking opportunities. Since 1997, HLSF has awarded almost a half million dollars in scholarships and fellowship opportunities to Latino law students based on merit, financial need, and commitment to the Latino community.

Goldberg Kohn is proud to be a sponsor of the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund of Illinois and it’s work to advance diversity, inclusion and excellence in the legal profession.
