Marsha K. Hoover Teaches Class Session on Trademark Law at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Marsha K. Hoover, chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Group, taught a class session on trademark law for the course Legal Issues for Artists and Designers at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on February 21, 2018.
The class session discussed trademark basics, how artists and designers can protect their brands for their own businesses, the First Amendment protection of artists' use of others' trademarks in creative works, and how the Supreme Court's recent decision in Matal v. Tam underlines the fact that trademarks constitute constitutionally protected speech.
