Previous posts have discussed the "public charge rule" that GK is challenging on behalf of its client Cook County in Cook County v. Wolf. On August 12, 2020, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals denied the Trump Administration's petition for rehearing en banc of its June 10, 2020 opinion affirming the District Court's entry of a preliminary injunction in favor of Cook County in the public charge litigation.  The government has until November 18, 2020, to file a petition for a writ of certiorari before the United States Supreme Court.  Judge Amy Coney Barrett served on the original 7th Circuit panel; in her submission to the Senate's questionnaire in advance of her confirmation hearings, Judge Barrett has listed the case among her most important decisions while serving on the 7th Circuit.
