Benjamin W. Chertok is an associate in the Litigation Group. He advises and assists clients in all phases of the litigation process, including each stage of pretrial and trial work in both state and federal courts.

Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, Mr. Chertok's practice involved various areas of litigation, including automotive, insurance defense, tort claims, defending clients against abuse and misconduct allegations, real estate disputes, statutory claims and contract litigation

Mr. Chertok earned a Bachelor of Science in Government & Psychology from Suffolk University, summa cum laude, in 2015, and his J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, cum laude, in 2020.

While in law school, Mr. Chertok competed with the Moot Court Society and served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. He also clerked for the Cook County State's Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Appeals Division and obtained a 711 license, which he used to appear in court to defend clients against felony charges on behalf of the Public Defender’s Office. There, he achieved several courtroom victories for his clients, both at trial as well as numerous substantive pre-trial motions that led to favorable dispositions. In his final year of law school, he handled complex litigation and investor protection matters, representing victims of fraud. During that time, Mr. Chertok became a certified Mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and mediated a wide variety of cases in Chicago’s Daley Center Courthouse. These cases included small claims matters, breach of contract disputes, landlord-tenant litigation and more.
