
Joseph Hoolihan is an Associate in the firm's Litigation group. He represents clients in commercial disputes involving breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, intellectual property, and False Claims Act matters. Mr. Hoolihan handles all aspects of pleadings, motion practice and discovery. He is also experienced in handling trial preparation, arbitration, mediation and settlement conferences.
Mr. Hoolihan is recognized in the 2024 and 2023 editions of "The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch" publication in the area of Commercial Litigation.
Mr. Hoolihan joined Goldberg Kohn in 2017. He is a Member of the firm's Associate Task Force and the Recruiting and Associate Business Development committees. Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, Mr. Hoolihan was an associate with a large, national law firm. He also served as a judicial extern to the Hon. Marvin Aspen, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, a role where he gained practical experience researching and drafting memoranda on a variety of litigation issues, and observed jury and bench trials, oral arguments, motion calls and sentencing hearings.
Mr. Hoolihan earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2015. While in law school, he was a member of Northwestern’s Bartlit Center Trial Team, where he competed nationally against some of the best student advocates in the country. He obtained his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
