Overview

Nicole Bruno is an Associate in the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group. She primarily represents lenders in the protection and enforcement of creditors' rights in commercial workouts and bankruptcies, including restructurings, reorganizations, sales, liquidations, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and debt for equity transactions.

Nicole joined Goldberg Kohn in September 2019 and is a member of the firm's Innovation Committee and Associate Task Force.

While attending Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, she served as an Executive Editor for the Journal of International Law and Business. She also served as a Legal Extern in the City of Chicago's Department of Law, Finance and Economic Development Division, and as a Legal Intern for Oxfam America, where she researched and wrote memoranda analyzing factual and domestic legal issues for the Private Sector Department.

Experience

  • Assisted secured lender in the reviewing, negotiating and drafting of the documentation related to a consensual DIP facility as well as assisting with the financing documentation related to a stalking horse purchaser in its borrower’s Chapter 11 case.
  • Represented secured lender in navigating issues with respect to restructuring a credit facility and the eventual sale of its borrowers’ business. Helped implement a sale strategy under Article 9 of the UCC, successfully coordinating and concluding multiple independent sale transactions for different elements of the business resulting in secured lender being paid substantially in full.
  • Assisted senior secured lender in navigating the workout of a distressed borrower, from executing a forbearance agreement through the eventual assignment and assumption of senior secured lender’s revolving facility.
