
Sean Apfelbaum is an Associate in the firm’s Commercial Finance Group. He represents banks and other financial institutions in a wide range of asset-based and cash-flow loans, secured and unsecured lending transactions, and first and second lien facilities across a broad array of industries.
He is recognized in the 2024 and 2023 editions of "The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch" publication. Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn in January 2021, Mr. Apfelbaum worked at two international law firms where he represented clients of all sizes in asset-based and cash-flow secured and unsecured lending transactions.
He received his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2015, and earned his B.A. in Human Biology from Indiana University Bloomington in 2010. While in law school, he was an intern and law clerk at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation's Medical Prosecutions Unit.
Before pursuing his legal career, Mr. Apfelbaum worked full-time as a research technician at the University of Chicago’s Psychomotor Laboratory.
Representative Matters
- Represented administrative agent and asset-based lender in providing $400 million revolving loan facilities as part of $620 million split-lien financing to a provider of home furnishing manufacturing products.
- Represented administrative agent and term lender in providing $17 million term loan facilities and $1.5 million revolving loan facilities in connection with acquisition financing of a software company.
- Represented administrative agent and lenders in providing $32 million term loan facilities, $3 million revolving loan facilities, and $300,000 swing line loan facilities in connection with acquisition financing of a global securities solutions provider.
- Represented administrative agent and term lender in providing $130 million term loan facilities as part of $280 million split-lien financing in connection with acquisition financing by a public company of a footwear and apparel company.
