
Takayuki Ono is an associate in the firm’s General Commercial Litigation practice group. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes litigation matters, Tak has a broad practice advising clients in complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He has experience in a wide range of cases involving privacy and cybersecurity, bankruptcy, securities, contracts, business torts, and fraud. Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, he was an associate with Jones Day.
As a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Manager, Tak also advises clients on a variety of cybersecurity and privacy issues, including privacy policies and notices, incident response plans, and compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
As a native of Kanagawa, Japan, Tak is fluent in Japanese and is an active supporter of increasing diversity in the legal profession. He is a member of the Firm’s Diversity Committee and is Vice Chair of the Associate Board of the Chicago Committee of Minorities in Large Law Firms. He is also the Founding Chair of the Japanese American Bar Association Chicago Committee. Tak has been recognized as a Rising Star in Illinois by Super Lawyers.
