Takayuki Ono is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. Tak litigates in federal and state courts across the United States, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of complex commercial disputes. His matters include claims involving privacy, business torts, breach of contract and fiduciary duty, shareholder issues, consumer class actions, and state and federal false claims acts. Tak has experience with matters of varying sizes—from high-profile, high-stakes disputes to smaller, more routine matters—which enables him to tailor his approach to each representation and marshal the appropriate resources to achieve results in an effective and efficient manner. Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, he was an antitrust associate with Jones Day, where he represented clients in government investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation.

As a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Manager, Tak also advises clients on a variety of cybersecurity and privacy issues, including privacy policies and notices, incident response plans, and compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

As a native of Kanagawa, Japan, Tak is fluent in Japanese and is an active supporter of increasing diversity in the legal profession. He is a member of the Firm’s Diversity Committee and is Vice-Chair of the Associate Board of the Chicago Committee of Minorities in Large Law Firms. He is also the Founding Chair of the Japanese American Bar Association Chicago Committee.  Tak has been recognized as a Rising Star in Illinois by Super Lawyers. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in Illinois are selected to receive this honor.
