On May 4, 2023, Goldberg Kohn's David Mason will be honored by the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) with its Nancy R. Rotering Founder's Award. Established in 2018, the award honors the leadership and public service of Mayor Nancy R. Rotering, who founded NSLAC in 2015 and is the first female mayor of Highland Park. A lifelong resident of the North Shore, David has been instrumental to the NSLAC, working on DACA, guardianship, U-Visa, naturalization and Afghan asylum projects.
David retired from the day-to-day practice of law in 2022, but continues as Of Counsel at Goldberg Kohn and remains available for consultation on new commercial finance transactions, portfolio administration and workout issues. He also remains devoted to providing pro bono legal services to those in need.
Since its inception eight years ago, the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic has helped more than 6,000 people in need stay in their homes, gain legal immigration status and escape abusive relationships. The May 4 fundraising reception, themed "Picture This," will be held at Pinstripes, 1150 Will Road, Northbrook. Proceeds from the event and raffle will support providing accessible, quality, equitable, free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing and immigration to low-income and at-risk community members living in suburban Cook County and Lake County.
