Lauren Penland has joined Goldberg Kohn as an Associate in the firm's Corporate Practice Group.

Lauren advises clients in a variety of industries on corporate governance and other general corporate matters at all stages, from incorporation to exit or dissolution. She is experienced in advising clients on U.S. federal income tax and state income tax matters, and has represented individuals and companies in front of the Internal Revenue Service and the Illinois Department of Revenue regarding audit determinations and appeals.

Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, Lauren practiced corporate, taxation and real estate law with a mid-sized Chicago law firm. Previously she worked at KPMG where she performed due diligence and tax-efficient structuring on cross-border deals.

Lauren earned her LL.M in Taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown Law in 2022. She obtained her J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, cum laude, in 2021, and her B.A. from Arizona State University, cum laude, in 2015.
