On May 1, 2025, Goldberg Kohn Litigation Associate Jonathan Dussik was presented with the Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
The award recognizes attorneys who have made significant contributions to the Northern District of Illinois through pro bono representation and advocacy.
Jonathan received the award for his work representing a detainee in a § 1983 excessive force case while at his prior firm, Sidley Austin. Following extensive discovery, summary judgment briefing, and a pre-trial settlement conference, the detainee was able to recover damages for his injuries.
Throughout his professional career, and while in law school, Jonathan has maintained an active pro bono practice. In addition to Legal Aid Chicago, he has worked with the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Woodlawn Legal Clinic.
