Goldberg Kohn Litigation Principal Chip Mulaney will serve as a panelist for the “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in the Criminal Law Arena” session at the “Hot Topics, Practice Tips & Current Developments in Federal Criminal Law” program presented by the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
The half-day CLE program will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026. It will bring together an exceptional roster of federal judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys to examine the issues and developments impacting federal criminal practice.
Chip, a former federal prosecutor and head of Goldberg Kohn’s white-collar defense and investigations practice, defends companies and individuals facing criminal exposure, civil litigation and parallel enforcement actions.
He and his fellow panelists, including a sitting federal district judge, the Hon. Edmond E. Chang, will explore how AI is reshaping federal criminal practice from investigations to courtrooms to judicial policy. They will examine AI's expanding role across the federal criminal arena, including its usage in law enforcement investigations, cybercrime and national security matters, and technology-assisted review in criminal discovery.
In addition to Chip’s AI panel, the “Hot Topics, Practice Tips & Current Developments in Federal Criminal Law” program will include two more panels:
- The Pursuit of Justice: Finding the Line Between Aggressive Advocacy & System Disruption. A distinguished panel of prosecutors and defense attorneys examines where zealous advocacy ends and ethical obligation begins.
- A View from the Bench. Members of the federal judiciary offer candid perspectives on the practices and expectations that define effective advocacy in their courtrooms.
