On November 27–28, 2025, Richard Kohn, a Principal in Goldberg Kohn’s Commercial Finance Group, participated in the “8th Conference on International Coordination of Secured Transactions Reform” in Hong Kong. The conference focused on legal and policy reforms related to financing digital assets. Richard spoke on a panel titled “Enforcement and Intangible Assets – Evolving Practice.”
The conference was part of the ongoing efforts by international organizations in the field of Secured Transactions Reform, helping countries (particularly developing economies) modernize their secured transactions laws to enable small and medium-size enterprises to obtain secured financing. Richard notes, “Secured Transactions Reform helps create jobs, improve standards of living, reduce social injustice, and promote stability within countries. It also expands cross-border commerce that fosters mutual understanding and cooperation.” Richard and other Goldberg Kohn lawyers have worked with UNCITRAL, UNIDROIT and other international organizations in this area over the past 25 years.
This event was hosted by the University of Hong Kong and sponsored by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), the World Bank Group and the International Law Institute.
