Paul J. "PJ" Sauerteig is an Associate in the firm's Litigation Group. He represents and advises clients in all phases of the litigation process, including each stage of pretrial and trial work in both state and federal courts. He focuses a significant amount of his practice on intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark litigation and counseling. 

Professional Background

Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn in January 2023, PJ was an associate at Winston & Strawn LLP, where he supported large-scale litigations and investigations, with a focus on intellectual property litigation and appeals. Also while there his pro bono practice revolved around public education and prison reform.

  • Representation of multiple internet service providers (ISPs) in large-scale copyright litigation brought by music industry plaintiffs. 
  • Representation of high-end U.S. fashion brand in trademark litigation filed against infringing bootleg manufacturer. 
  • Representation of historic music archives in copyright litigation brought by music industry plaintiffs, including appellate work in the 2nd and 9th Circuits.  
  • Representation of a non-profit foundation in litigation to recover historic sports memorabilia. 
  • Representation of a major U.S. ethanol manufacturer in multiple antitrust class action litigations. 
  • Pro bono representation of Indiana residents in toxic tort litigation against manufacturing companies.  
  • Pro bono representation of Illinois Department of Corrections inmates in class-action seeking to reform solitary confinement practices within the IDOC.
