
Colin Wexler is a Principal in the firm's Litigation Group. He represents clients in complex commercial litigation, including product liability, intentional tort and negligence claims, false advertising and consumer class actions, intellectual property, breach of contract and fiduciary duty, as well as claims based on both the federal and state false claims acts. He also focuses on the representation of licensed real estate brokers, advising these clients on the real estate brokerage laws in all 50 states and representing them before a variety of states' real estate commissions.
Mr. Wexler has significant experience defending class actions. In addition, he regularly counsels clients in the compliance with, and defends them against claims brought under, the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), Truth In Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA).
Mr. Wexler also defends clients in product liability and premises liability actions, and handles trademark, copyright, trade secrets and patent rights matters, including litigation under the Copyright Act, Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and Trademark Act.
Mr. Wexler joined Goldberg Kohn in June 2002. He is a Member of the firm's Finance, Compensation and Contingent Fee committees. He is a former law clerk to the Hon. Charles P. Sifton, who at the time was the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Mr. Wexler received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 1999, where he served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Yale University in 1995.
Mr. Wexler is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Ninth and Second Circuits.
