Paul J. "PJ" Sauerteig is an Associate in the firm's Litigation Group. He represents and advises clients in all phases of the litigation process, including each stage of pretrial and trial work in both state and federal courts. He focuses a significant amount of his practice on intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark litigation and counseling.
Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn in January 2023, Mr. Sauerteig was an associate at Winston & Strawn LLP, where he supported large-scale litigations and investigations, with a focus on intellectual property litigation and appeals. His pro bono practice revolved around public education and prison reform.

Professional Background
Mr. Sauerteig earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2019. While in law school he served as web editor of the NYU Journal of Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law and was the 2019 recipient of the Larry Fleisher Memorial Foundation Prize for extraordinary achievement in the area of Sports and Entertainment Law. He also was a legal intern in PEN America's Free Expression program.
Mr. Sauerteig received his B.A. in Creative Writing, with a concentration in Psychology from Columbia University in 2015, cum laude. Prior to pursuing his legal career, he recorded and performed as a professional musician, and founded the boutique record label, Massif Records. Mr. Sauerteig has also published cultural criticism and poetry, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2016.
