Benjamin W. Chertok has joined Goldberg Kohn as an Associate in the firm's Litigation Group. He represents and advises clients in all phases of the litigation process, including each stage of pretrial and trial work in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Chertok earned his J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, cum laude, in 2020. While in law school, he competed with the Moot Court Society and served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. He also clerked for the Cook County State's Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Appeals Division and obtained a 711 license, which he used to appear in court to defend clients against felony charges on behalf of the Public Defender’s Office.

In his final year of law school, Mr. Chertok became a certified Mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and mediated a wide variety of cases in Chicago’s Daley Center Courthouse, including small claims matters, breach of contract disputes and landlord-tenant litigation.

Prior to joining Goldberg Kohn, Mr. Chertok was an associate at Dykema, where he was involved in various areas of litigation, including real estate disputes, statutory claims and contract litigation, automotive, insurance defense, tort claims, and defense of abuse and misconduct allegations.

Prior to pursuing his legal career, Mr. Chertok worked as a Government Compliance Consultant at Non Profit Capital Management, LLC. He earned his B.S., summa cum laude, in Government & Psychology from Suffolk University in 2015.
