The shout-out comes in the company of a very selective list of runners-up and recognizes exceptional performance in highly visible, high-stakes litigation.
The team has been pursuing this matter since 2008, including all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court where the team prevailed. The case involves allegations of improper claims for federal E-Rate program subsidies.
In February 2025, The U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that the payments at issue fall within the statutory definition of "claims" under the False Claims Act. Last week, U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman in Milwaukee allowed the case to proceed, denying summary judgement and rejecting constitutional challenges to the FCA's qui tam provisions.
