Goldberg Kohn Litigation principal David E. Morrison has been named a Notable Gen X Leader by Crain’s Chicago Business for his instrumental leadership in the firm, litigation achievements, and profound commitment to pro bono clients and causes.
David’s recognition will be publicized as a special feature in the November 22, 2021, print edition of Crain’s Chicago Business and online here.
Since joining Goldberg Kohn in 1996, David has worked to help foster a workplace environment in which productivity and diversity thrive. He currently serves as the chair of the firm’s Administrative Committee, overseeing all staff issues and firm-wide policies such as COVID-related guidelines. David also manages trial teams within the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment groups.
Most notably, David created one of the firm’s most sustainable corporate partnerships and ignited GK’s pro bono practice in the process. Over the past five years, the firm has partnered with McDonald’s and the National Immigrant Justice Center to provide critical legal assistance to asylum seekers in the United States, earning GK CPBO's national 2021 PBI Corporate Partnership Award.
David’s pro bono involvement extends far beyond this partnership. He previously served as pro bono counsel in in various cases including currently serving as a Special Assistant State's Attorney representing Cook County's challenge to the Public Charge Rule promulgated in 2019, which litigation has garnered national attention.
Goldberg Kohn has also seen an increase in the firm's diversity in conjunction with David’s leadership. He previously served as Chair of the firm's Diversity Committee, creating the firm's first diversity initiative with an emphasis on recruiting lawyers from diverse backgrounds, continuing the growth and development of the firm.
David is an experienced trial lawyer, having litigated numerous bankruptcy disputes, commercial cases and employment cases on behalf of public and private companies in virtually every region of the country.
Beginning in 2019, Crain’s has annually chosen outstanding Chicago-based attorneys for inclusion in its Notable Gen X Leaders in Accounting, Consulting and Law list based on peer nomination and review by its selection committee.
