Goldberg Kohn Principal Meredith Kirshenbaum has been named a 2023 Notable Leader in Labor & Employment Law by Crain's Chicago Business. The 40 notable leaders honored by Crain's handle both management- and employee-side labor and employment matters, and devote hundreds of hours to volunteering and pro bono work.

Meredith is a Principal in Goldberg Kohn's Labor & Employment and Litigation groups. With a practical and solutions-oriented approach, she helps clients navigate labor and employment issues, litigation, and the challenges of commercial disputes.

Meredith is nationally renowned for her work supporting charter schools in remaining independent from the influence of teachers' unions. She navigates complicated labor issues for dozens of charter schools nationally, with much of her work centering on preventive support and closely partnering with school leaders on building strong cultures.

Meredith has successfully represented charter schools in National Labor Relations Board proceedings, defending against petitions for representation and unfair labor practice charges. During the past 18 months, in particular, she has represented four charter schools in their collective bargaining negotiations. Clients praise Meredith for her commitment to their missions and to understanding what makes them unique.

Outside the practice of law, she serves as an associate board member of the Anti-Defamation League, a board member at Camp for All Kids and recently served on her synagogue’s rabbinical search committee.

The list includes only individuals for whom nominations were submitted and accepted after a review by editors. To qualify for the list, nominees must live and work in the Chicago area, serve in a senior role at a law firm with at least 10 attorneys, and have practiced for a minimum of 10 years. In addition, their work with clients or pro bono projects must have a measurable impact, and they must demonstrate leadership in professional organizations and civic or community initiatives.
