
Kerry Nelson is Counsel in the firm's Litigation Group and Labor & Employment Group. She represents clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts and frequently handles nationwide class actions. Ms. Nelson is experienced in litigating, arbitrating and mediating cases involving commercial contracts, banking and finance matters, professional responsibility matters and malpractice claims, and environmental issues.
Ms. Nelson's employment litigation experience includes defending employers against cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as various state law discrimination claims. She also handles litigation involving restrictive covenants.
Ms. Nelson joined Goldberg Kohn in October 2010 and is a member of the firm's Women's Task Force. Previously she served as a law clerk to the Hon. Amy J. St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 2009 to 2010. While in law school, she was a judicial extern to the Hon. Mark Filip of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
She received her law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law in 2007, where she was an Associate Editor on the Northwestern University Law Review. She received her B.A., cum laude, from Georgetown University in 2004.
Ms. Nelson is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana and Western District of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
