
Maria McGuire is a Principal in the firm’s Commercial Finance Group. She represents banks, finance companies and other lenders in structuring, documenting and negotiating commercial finance transactions, including asset-based and cash-flow loans, and working capital and acquisition finance transactions. She has experience in a variety of business sectors, including technology finance transactions.
Ms. McGuire has extensive experience in international finance transactions, primarily focusing on Europe and North America, and is regularly engaged in restructurings and workouts.
In 2016, Ms. McGuire was chosen as a "40 Under 40" award recipient by The Secured Finance Network. The award recognizes "the best and brightest rising stars in secured finance." In addition, she was profiled in The Secured Lender's 2018 "Women in Commercial Finance" issue, which highlights inspiring women who "exemplify excellence and have distinguished themselves within the secured finance industry." In 2021 and 2002, she was named a Leading Lawyer in Banking & Financial Institutions Law by Illinois Leading Lawyers.
She has been involved in pro bono projects with the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Center for Disability and Elder Law.
Ms. McGuire joined Goldberg Kohn in October 2005 and is a Member of the firm's Management Committee. She received her law degree, cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School in 2003, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in American Studies and Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. She is admitted to practice in Illinois.
