Commercial Finance Principals Alexandria Filush and Christopher Swartout have been honored as “40 Under 40 Award” recipients by the Secured Finance Network for their leadership within and dedication to the structured finance sector.
Established in 2016, SFNet's "40 Under 40 Award" celebrates the achievements of young professionals in the secured finance industry — movers and shakers who exemplify true excellence in their careers. The recipients are profiled in the June 2025 issue of The Secured Lender.
“This year’s 40 Under 40 class represents the very best of that future,” writes SFNet Chief Executive Officer Richard Gumbrecht. “These individuals have demonstrated extraordinary drive, creativity, and leadership across a wide range of roles. They are problem-solvers and change-makers, trusted by their colleagues and respected by their peers. Their stories …. offer a compelling snapshot of what’s possible when talent meets purpose.”
In her "40 Under 40 Award" profile Alex says, “As a finance lawyer, the small, deliberate tasks I carry out each day—striving to provide prompt and helpful responses to client questions, moving deals forward efficiently, collaborating with my wonderful colleagues and trying not to lose sight of details when deal pace accelerates—all accumulate and, over time, have helped me to build trust with clients and progress toward becoming the kind of colleague and lawyer I aspire to be.”
In his profile, Chris reflects on current trends affecting the industry and its unpredictability. He says, “It is entirely plausible that the president’s actions will freeze the M&A and debt markets or trigger a financial crisis in the next 12 months. It’s also plausible that everything will settle back down, and we could have the best year for deal-making this decade. Right now, that uncertainty is more important than all of the other long-term trends.”
Goldberg Kohn is proud of Alex and Chris and their achievements as well as those of previous Goldberg Kohn "40 Under 40 Award" recipients Jeff Dunlop ('20), Seth Good ('17), Sarah Griggs ('22), Danielle Juhle ('18), Prisca Kim (’24), Christopher Marquez (’23) and Joe Zizzo ('21).
