
Michael Hainen is Chair of Goldberg Kohn's Commercial Finance Group and a Principal in the firm. He represents banks and other financial institutions primarily engaged in middle-market lending activities in the documentation, negotiation and closing of a wide range of loan transactions. He regularly handles single and multi-bank asset-based and cash-flow loans, leveraged buyouts, mezzanine financings, and cross-border finance transactions.
Mr. Hainen also has extensive experience in bankruptcy related financing, including debtor-in-possession financings and exit loan facilities. In addition, he frequently handles workout matters and guides both out-of-court and bankruptcy-governed restructurings.
Mr. Hainen has been individually ranked in Chambers USA for his work in Banking & Finance Law every year since 2014.
Among other organizations, he is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth. He has served as an expert lecturer for workshops held by the Secured Finance Network (SFNet).
Mr. Hainen joined Goldberg Kohn in May 2000. In addition to chairing the firm's Commercial Finance Group, he serves on the Business Development Committee and as a Member of the Associate Task Force.
He received his law degree in 1997 from Vanderbilt Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and an articles editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree in History, cum laude, from Middlebury College in 1994. Mr. Hainen is admitted to practice in Illinois.
